This is the forum where all of the 800 students from my two groups will participate in discussions. The things to be discussed will be posted each week on Monday evening and all students will have one week or until Sunday night at midnight to post without losing grade points. Participation here is for 10% of your final grade and late comments will not be counted.
The purpose here is to help each of you learn through self and peer correction. Do not use language that is inappropriate and please avoid the use of slang. This class is to improve your level of academic language and prepare you for your professional use of English. I will be reading your posts, but I want you to correct the errors of your peers and in the process you will be improving your level of English.
Things for discussion: what you are learning or struggling with in class, the book we are reading, the activities we do, the LOST series we are watching, movies we see; basicly anything that goes on in class!
Please begin by introducing yourselves, what you are studying and what you plan to do with your English skills.

DeleteEnglish is ALWAYS capitalized. Se dice, "I agree with you or I am in agreement with you." (Whit) means funny or intelligent, but "with = con" is spelled w-i-t-h.

"sometime" should be separated "some time to think (infinitive) about". "However", is always together. I wholeheartedly support your desire to be a musician, but I think that perfecting your languages can open very important doors for you internationally.

Hi! My name is Jimena, I´m studing Quality Administration in DCEA. I´m in fourth semester. I´m planning have another exchange abroad as soon as posible and practice my english, after that, I would like to do my student service in a abroad company.
ReplyDeleteI´m learning more vocabulary, and development my listening skill. I love the activities we doing in class because we practice all our skills, but some times is kind of hard because we have a lot of work.

ReplyDeleteI am Alba Violeta Pérez Meza. I'm from Salamanca but I have been living in Guanajuato since 6 years ago. Now I'm studing law, im on 5th semester.
I think, as most of my clasmates that English is an impotant skill to grow up in an international way and to get better or different opportunities. Eventhough law is a hard carrer to get on in this aerea, I pretend to increase this kind of opportunities.

One of the best reasons to I´m learning English is the advancements you can make professionally. Business is often done internationally, and being able to speak English can greatly benefit you at your job. If you live in a country where the dominant language isn't English, companies that need to conduct business with English speaking nations will look for employees who know the language. By learning how to speak it, you can advance in your job and maybe even start business travelling around the world.
By learning English you create opportunities to meet new people and start friendships. It's hard to build personal relationships with people if you don't understand their language, so learning English can help you establish not only business relationships but personal relationships as well.

ReplyDeleteMy name is Rodrigo but everybody calls me Rudy :). I'm from San Felipe. I am 20 years old but sometimes I look older and sometimes I look much older. I'm studying a degree on education for junior high school focused on English, in other words, I'm going to become a great English Teacher and that is why I have to learn the language so I can teach to my students in a proper way and give the class correctly.
Also learning a second language for me is an awesome way to expand culturally and start talking with more people from other countries and all the social things involved in a language.

And I am studying English because I need write and speak very well, for do an exchange, and also the language open the door to the world, and If you can’t communicate to the people, you don’t know anything. So, I was studying German, but this semester I can’t , and it’s frustrating to me, because I really like this language, so, I recommend to you, learn another language, also it is fun.

I've been studying english since I was in high school because in that moment I wanted to watch movies without subtitles or listen to music and know what was the meaning of the lyrics. Now, I know that the english is totally indispensable; I had a teacher that told us that is easier to get a job if you can speak english than if you do'nt have that hability. My propose in this class is increase my level and write, listen and speak better.
