Week 6: Amping things up a bit!
This week I'm going to ask that you stretch yourselves a bit... We'll look at the exercises that you did over the weekend, but we do not have time to slow down. Your mid-term is coming FAST and we need to do listening activities ever day for the next two weeks!
I would also like to advance at least 6 chapters in the Harbinger over the next two weeks... Apart from those two things you all have a lot of work to do so, we'll do as much as possible IN the classroom so you have time to work on your research and your essay at home.
This week here I would like you to tell your classmates two interesting things about your topic and please say how your research is going. Do not forget to be correcting each other! Have a great week! See you in class...
My topic is Arms Trade and I found an interesting fact that everybody knows is United States imports one million dollars in arms and exports 600 million its a lot of money.The small arms trade in the black market is estimated between 2,000 and 10,000 million it´s a controvesial topic, some people are agree with arms trade and other people are disagree!!!
ReplyDeleteYour topic is very interesting and there are a lot of points of views about Arms Trade. Everyone knows that arms are necessary, but it is our responsibility to control the trade and also monitor that the use of arms is for a justifiable end.

DeletePlease do not forget that your topic is International Arms Trade and you should look at it globally. Do not get caught up in the Western Hemisphere, make sure you look at China, Korea, and the Middle East.
My expository essay is going to talk about Chernobyl´s Nuclear Accident and its effects during and after this happen. Actually I chose this issue because it is really important to me, maybe because I am stuyding Chemestry. The damage was dangerous because of the radioactivity and this reason made the scientists to work and propose solutions to the catastrophe.
ReplyDeleteI have read a lot about Chernobyl. I think that is one of the biggest man tragedies. The cancer has increased in many countries by this disaster.
DeleteI put Chernobyl on the list because in the early 1990s there was a flood of Ukrainian refugees in the United States who came and were given free medical care and automatic citizenship, but ultimately the grand majority of them died from the cancers of Chernobyl.
DeleteI was working two jobs at the time, one in a large hospital in Denver, CO and another managing a four story apartment building on Capital Hill, in both jobs I came to know and love several victims of the Chernobyl tragedy.
I study Chemical Engineering and three semesters ago I took a class where we saw all about this tragedy and I really think that is a very interesting topic so I Hope that you find great information about it.

DeleteMy topic is indigenous education. During my research, I have been reading about the Chichimeca culture. The Chichimeca are an indigenous group living in our state. The education of these children "guamares" is bilingual, they retain their dialect and learn spanish.

DeleteRemember that the topics are international and so should not only focus on Mexico, please look at the problems of indigenous education globally. UNESCO is a good resource site for your topic... The indigenous "GLOBALLY" are a forgotten people and where they have not been completely irradicated they are almost assuredly the last people to be considered by ANY government. Make sure we see that in your presentation.
My expository essay is about Carlos Slim, the richest person in the world. Carlos Slim is mexican, and he is a great bussiness man. However, he got too many empires in the whole world. Slim has a own fundation. He is one of the worlds most important philanthropists and most people have never heard about his humanitarian activities.

DeleteWell, my expository essay will be about the global warming, I chose this topic because is a big problem for the humanity, so I think that the government and people have to take extreme measures to stop the effects of this problematic. Last year I have read a lot about this topic but I haven´t star to write my essay because I have had a lot of homework for the University but I will start today :)
ReplyDeleteGlobal warming is an interesting topic and you could find much information and statistics. I say you this because the last semester my expository essay was about the global warming. I'd recommend you to be careful when you are planning your essay and search statistics.
DeleteI'm working on the topic "Hiroshima 6/08/1945". Well, it was a real tragedy. In my research I saw a lot of images and read texts that represents the damage that the bomb caused to the citizens of Hiroshima, Japan. It wasn't just one bomb, a couple of days later, USA sent another one to Nagasaki, but this did't have the same range of damage. I only read and saw things about it, but I didn't wrote anything yet, so wish me luck :3

I chose this topic because nowadays, the topics ans aspects about the protection of Human Rights have been having great importance. Amnesty International is an international organization whose purpose is to bring together countries around the world to fight for respect human rights. With my research, I have been discovering that Amnesty International activities are many. I have information about the topic however I haven´t begun to organized the ideas.
