Week 7 Mid-Term Week!!!

How scarey is that? We are half-way through the semester and we are not half-way through the material of the class! And the fun of vacation dates is just beginning...

We're kind of good news/bad news at this point! I have graded everything in my possession and this week I'll speak with each of you or email you about where you stand as far as your grade in the class. I'll also be looking at and counting your posts to the blog since week 1 to see if you have posted the way you should be.

The mid-term is a listening exam ONLY, what this means logisticly is that your Writing Exams and Reading comprehension quizzes weigh heavier in your overall grade than they have at any other level, SO DON'T SKIP QUIZZES!

Please do not be late sending your Expository Essays they are due BEFORE FRIDAY EVENING.

So this week I would like you to post on "The Harbinger" we are about half-way through we are just beginning the parts of the book that started to shake me up when I read it the first time. When the author begins to carefully knit the prophesy to the historical past of the United States and then we begin to see how many other things begin to fall together "by chance"... Well, I'm a person of faith who believes in God's Word and when I see proof of His hand moving, I pay attention. But I like this book because even the doubter and die-hard skeptics can't explain away the facts. So lets hear it...

  1. Yeah! I think that we are in the climax of The Harbinger. Apart from that, this book have helped me with my vocabulary, which now is more extensive. That is incredibly. As I said before, when I read the book in class, I only pay attention to the vocabulary and its pronunciation. Although when I go home I read again the chapters we already read in class and I believe that is amazing, because that the author wrote it, make you feel what was going on that day and also how was the felling of the people who suffered the tragedy.

    1. I feel the same with the pronunciation. But now, reading is more familiar. I still have much to understand, but... I have not such fear of reading in public.

  2. it's a good practice for reading and speaking in English, specially because we practice with it with frequence, but in my personal point of view I think is a bored book and there are a lot of argument and and just some o none actions in the story. And it is very repetitive in some ideas.

    1. I also think that the book is repetitive but not boring...we can learn a lot of things about world's history.

    2. The thing here is that we must be in the provision of learning, in this way everything could have a funny part.

  3. The truth is that all data in the book are true. I'm not distrustful, but I like to doubt everything I read. For example, in Chapter 12, the book tells of a speech given by a prominent politician on the third anniversary of September 11. The speech contained the verses of Isaiah 9:10, so the prophecy was fulfilled.

At first I hesitated. So, I went to internet and searched the words with the speech began: "Good morning today. Today, on this day of remembrance and mourning, we have the Lord's Word to get up..." And I found it. Here is a link, the politician is John Edwards...

  4. I think that "the Habinger" it's kind of creepy. Every book it's diferent but this one is too much, It's hard to believe that the prophecy it's happening again, I know that it's just a book, a surreal story, but for me it's kind of shocking.
About the reading, I think that it's a great exercise to improve our pronuntiation and learn new vocabulary
