For the past six weeks we have
been busily growing your English skills. The book we have been reading works
specifically on 4 crucial areas of your language skills: pronunciation, fluency,
vocabulary and listening. You have all shown significant growth! I would
encourage you to find a book in a genre that you like and be reading in English
in your free time and whenever you can be reading aloud. There is scientific
proof that reading improves ALL language skills EVEN SPELLING and GRAMMAR.
This week you should be putting
together your PowerPoint Presentations which are due on Monday September 30th,
but if they are ready you can bring them into class this week and load them
into my computer.
This week on the BLOG I would like
you to share about your perceived weakness in English (if you believe you have
any) I would also like to hear what things surprised you MOST about your
Expository Essay Topic. Next week is your Mid-Term Exam: is there anything
special you feel like you want to work on during the last six weeks of class?

ReplyDeleteMy perceived weakness in English is speaking, I can do it but, I am a little scared.
About my topic of the expository essay that is "AIDS Orphans", what surprise me the most is the fact that exist many children with AIDS in the world. Another that make me feel human is that exist organizations which help this children and do not let they alone and that exist many ways to help. I really enjoy my topic.
Your topic it´s very interesting! I can´t wait to see your work! It´s sad know that children have AIDS but at the same time I feel good knowing that organizations take care of childrens and support them.

ReplyDeleteAbout my weakness in English language, I perceived that is my grammar, I dont understand well some of the basic rules and is really shameful because I´m in eight level.
about my topic of exposition, it really surprised me was the level of impact of the Chernobyl nuclear accident, because it was so shocking that this radiation is scattered to other countries such as Russia or Belarus
Hi clasmate! Well, you shouldn´t feel shameful because everybody has mistakes, also, the grammar isn´t a problem, it can be solved quickly, you only nedd to practice and sometimes to memorize. You can do it!

ReplyDeleteWell, my perceived weakness in English is speaking, I can understand a conversation, to read and understand the reading but when I speak, my English is´n´t fluid, I am late in thinking how to say what I want to say and really, I would like to speak fluid English and I know that I be able to achive it, I only nedd practice.
About my topic Expository Essay that is ¨Greenpeace¨, I surprised that anyone can be part of Greenpeace, do´n´t matter the age or the genre, if you want you can. Also, Greenpeace has an excellent organization because opetares worldwide in different areas always focusing on environmental protection.

DeleteLike everything else, if we want to improve, we have to practice. You could hear more music in english and look for the lyrics and then, while you´re singing, you will be practicing your pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary and other stuff :)

ReplyDeleteAbout my expository work, I like very much my topic, it´s about the Gates foundation. This foundation are located in all continents, their regional offices are located in Washington D.C., China, Europe, Africa and India. I´m surprised because this foundation works in all the world problems: global health, global development, and in schools programs.
I like continue work as we do now, we practice all the skills.

ReplyDeleteMy perceived weakness in English is speaking and reading, I think I could speak more fluently and faster but I freak out when speak in public, but with the visit of the girls I feel fine because I can practice, also when I read I am scared and I used to be distracted.
My Expository Essay, well I'll talk about Racism, as we know it happen in all the world; is an international issue, I choose this topic because I think it continue due to our behavior as a human;a bad behavior and I think it could become better and comfortable to stop it. I'm worried because the consequences could be the death or psychological problems.

ReplyDeleteDefinitely the grammar!, especially the order of a sentence, and to distinguish the noun, adjective, verb, subject, pronoun that kind of mysterious things!
And actually, i have been taking an online classe with Texas A&M, West Virginia and Tecnologico de Monterrey, it´s about Watershed contamination and some solutions arround the world, and obviously the classes are in English, but it has been so hard, because the pronunciation it´s so faster, emphazise "So faster!" and chiefly, everybody use a technical english that it´s hard to understand.
And about my topic, I´ve been troubles, because i don´t know how far i can get, and obviously i don´t want to be boring, I undertand that mayority are not involve, it´s not their fild and that could make them susceptible to boredom.
my weakness are that after reading for a while I start making pauses until I finish reading.

DeleteMy main english weakness is the way how I speak with someone. I sure that I know the words and its meaning, the phrases and its order, but when I´am in front of one person who speaks english, specially with foreing people I feel nervious and impacient and my english become a disaster.

My perceived weakness in English is speaking, and the grammar I can do it but, I am a little scared.
ReplyDeleteMy topic of the expository essay is World Wildlife I'm disappointed with this kind of associations because some times act against the law, and I think if they want to be respected should act under the laws of that violence does not help us at all, unlike in world increasingly fueled violence there more people who do not follow the rules and want to take justice into their own.
My English weakness is forget the meaning of the words and sometimes how to write them : S.
ReplyDeleteMy topic is Endangered Rainforest, it talks about how tropical forests are affected by human behavior and how lots of animal are losing their homes, guys we need to change somethings now because we are killing ourselves.
Well, I think my biggest weakness is my grammar because sometimes I forget certain rules. However, it´s something I will improve by just practicing, above all practicing with foreign people.
