Week 10 Presentations!!! AND Writing Exam III
I'm very excited to see and hear your Powerpoint presentations about your expository essays. Most of you fared very well on your essays. I'm quite proud that you have risen to the task and proven your overall abilities in mastering the English language.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday you will be presenting your expositions. Thursday will be the third (and for some of you-your final) writing exam. This will be a persuasive essay on the topic of "Abortion: for or against" you will use facts and statistics with citations to convince me why your point of view is correct.
In this week's forum here I would like to see your arguments for and against abortion. The idea is to help you clarify your own opinions and be able to state your case, before entering the exam and FREAKING OUT forgetting what your arguments are. If you can hold your own in this type of situation, then going into another culture to live, work or simply study you'll find yourself much more equiped to survive in any English speaking culture.
Abortion has become a very controversial topic nowadays to the point that has been discussed in the government to decide about their status and whether it is legal or not. I think that abortion is a crime and I'm totally against it. Every human being is the owner of his actions and decisions and as such should be responsible for its consequences. A human being must be respected from conception and that right includes life.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you the abortion it is a crime, and a crime against a baby who can't say something to try to save himself. And exist more alternatives to the abortion like the adoption.
DeleteTHe abortion have a lots of views but in my global perspective, the solution to reduce the numbers of abortions is to provide more sexual education. I think this is very important

DeleteI'm against abortion. Everyone has their religion and their own point of view but I think that only God can take our lives. We only need to be educated in valeus with human sensitivity. We don't need laws that prove if it's legal or not, we need to be conscientious about what does abortion means; it's cruel to deprive someone from life.

DeleteAbortion is not a topic of religion or gendre, we are talking about life and it has to be respected.
DeleteAbortion is a polemic problem, there are many opinions about it, however, I disagree with abortion because is correct to say that the women had reproductive rights and they can choose over her body but also is important to say that we must be responsible with our decisions and the consequences about it.
ReplyDeleteMany people defend abortion in violation cases but I think that even in these situations, the solution isn´t to kill innocent little person because the women who don´t want their babies can give them in adoption to infertile couples.
I agree with you, I think that we have to face the consecuences of our acts, that is the easiest way to "solve the problem" but the woman who is thinking about abortion has to think it twice before to take that hard desition that will change her life and to consider another alternative like give the baby in adoption to a couple who can't be parents.

ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely against abortion because it is a kind of premeditated murder against someone who can't do something to fight for his/her life. Besides, it could be dangerous to the woman because she could suffer a physical damage like an infection owing to a bad practice of the procedure because, in countries where abortion is forbidden, women go to clandestine clinics where they don't have the needed hygienical conditions or the appropiated material for the procedure. Other repercusion, to the woman and even the man who was involved in an abortion, is the post-abortion syndrome which in some cases ends with the suicide.

DeleteI'm agree with you. Sometimes, the women in their desperate attempt to get rid of a baby, they appeal on dangerous methods wich expose their lives.

DeleteAbortion is a controversial topic worldwide. However, the preferences are very different between each continent even are in every country. Every region has customs and their own point of view about this action which decide between the good and bad sides in every situation that the abortion took place in. To accept or reject abortion, we must consider what said the father of the child, because a baby is half about his dad and the other half about his mother, so the parents must talk, and get a real decision to make.

DeleteWell, speaking about Mexico, ABORTION is legal in 18 states in the country. In my investigation, I found a website that has a lot of interesting things, it's in Spanish, and it talks about the clinics in The DF that practice this surgical interventions(here´s the link http://www.clinicas-aborto.com.mx/)I don't know how to look at this information, in some cases abortion it's a good option but when the girl wants to do that because it's an unexpected pregnancy a think that it's wrong, because she and the father have to take responsability about their actions.
ReplyDeleteSo I'm not completely disagree but I'm not agree with abortion, I'm half and half, because it's really a hard topic and I think that mexican people it's very negligent and sometimes we don't care about the consequences.
I think your point is reasonable. I am against but I am aware that it is a difficult decision...
DeleteI'm against abortion. Some activists say that women have the right to decide about his body, and it's true. But in the pregnancy, there are two bodies... two lives. According to the Madrid Manifesto, written by scientists "The bodies of the woman and the embryo are different, because the fetal DNA is different from the mother, so the embryo is considered a different being".
ReplyDeleteThat is true. When girls unfortunately get pregnant, they have to be responsible for their actions, even when they didn't planned, they are responsible for two lives. I can't understand how the girls try to fix one mistake with another worst.
DeleteThe abortion is a hard topic to talk about. I am against in the majority of cases: when the women try to wipe the product of her mistakes. I think the only chance that abortion, could be considered as an option is when a mom's life is in risk, but even in that way is a really awful decision.
ReplyDeleteI'm agree with Osvaldo when he says that everyone has to be reponsible for they do. But there are situations like a violation and i think that the first mistake we can make is rate it as legal or ilegal. My problem is not with abortion but the people. The ones who rate themselves as pro-abortion think this is a game... In my opinion: if you want to abort (bacause you were violated or you just were not responsible) do it and live with it for the rest of your life, but please learn from your mistakes, cause mistakes are made by everyone, but the real problem is when you repeat mistakes. Abort isn't the problem; the problem is when you are not responsible for what you do.

And reality is that everybody says they are totally against the abortion but when they are in some situation like a violation (i hope you guys don't ever be in it) and your life and the future you've been planning is in risk the idea of abortion will run through your mind, and even if this person doesn't decide to abort. That's when you realize that only a few perons are TOTALLY against it.
